Q&A With Jessica Drake: Wicked Sensual Care, Better Lube And Shame-Free Pleasure
Jessica Drake has spent years helping people talk about pleasure, consent, lube, intimacy, and sexual wellness with less shame and a lot more honesty. For this Adultsmart Q&A, I spoke with Jessica about her work with Wicked Sensual Care, how she thinks about product development, and why lube should be treated as a normal part of sexual wellness.
In my time working with adult products and customer questions, I have seen how often people treat lubricant as an afterthought. This conversation with Jessica gets into exactly that: why education matters, why lubricant is still underrated, and how Wicked Sensual Care creates products that support real bodies and real intimacy.

Sexual Wellness Education
What inspired you to become involved in sexual wellness education?
I believe that pleasure, consent, and sexual health deserve the same attention as every other part of our well-being. Really early in my career, I realized how many people had questions but didn’t know where to ask them without feeling embarrassed or judged. I was raised Jehovah’s Witness with NO sex education to speak of. I was deeply ashamed as I began to develop my sense of sexual identity, and that really drives me today. Being able to help people by replacing shame with knowledge is one of my favorite things.
Jessica’s Connection With Wicked
How did your connection with Wicked begin?
I’ve worked with Wicked Sensual Care from the very beginning, but over time that relationship evolved far beyond being a spokesperson. I started as a Brand Strategist and in-house educator, and today I’m the Head of Marketing & Product Development. That means I’m involved in everything from product concepts and formulas to packaging, education, and brand messaging.
One of the projects I’m most proud of is co-creating our simply timeless Collection, which was developed to support people experiencing perimenopause, menopause, and beyond while helping normalize talking about sex and aging. I love being part of a company that genuinely listens to consumers and creates products to spark conversations and solve real problems—not just follow trends or sell lube.
Comfort, Confidence And Pleasure – Q&A With Jessica Drake
What made you want to create or support products that focus on comfort, confidence, and pleasure?
Because those three things go hand in hand. When people are comfortable, they’re more confident. When they’re more confident, they’re more likely to communicate, explore, and enjoy intimacy. Great products don’t just enhance pleasure—they should remove barriers that keep people from experiencing it in the first place. If we can help someone feel seen, supported, and excited about intimacy again, we’ve done our job.
Talking About Lube And Intimacy
How has your experience in the industry shaped the way you talk about lubricant and intimacy?
Many people think lube is something you use because something is “wrong.” In reality, it’s a wellness product. We don’t question using moisturizer for dry skin or conditioner for healthy hair, so why should lubricant be any different? Whether it’s for comfort, pleasure, menopause, toy play, anal play, or simply making a good experience even better, lubricant belongs in everyone’s nightstand.
Multiple kinds! I love when people have a different favorite lube for different types of play. I also really enjoy normalizing the lube conversation because once people get past the stigma, they’re usually amazed by how much of a difference a great formula can make. Being in the industry as long as I have, I wouldn’t say I’ve heard it all, but i feel like I’m pretty close. It’s made me a hundred percent comfortable talking about sex, pleasure, lube, toys, you name it.
Why Lubricant Is Still Underrated
Why do you think lubricant is still underrated by many people?
Because we haven’t normalized talking about it. A lot of people still associate lubricants with aging and/or sexual dysfunction, when in reality it’s one of the easiest ways to improve comfort and pleasure at any age. Once people find a great lube, they’re surprised they waited so long.
The Biggest Lubricant Misconception
What is the biggest misconception people have about using lubricant?
That needing lubricant means your body isn’t working the way it should. Bodies change. Hormones change. Stress changes. Medications change. Sometimes you just want a different sensation. Using lube isn’t a sign that something’s wrong—it’s a sign that you’re paying attention to what your body needs. Everyone wins!
Trying Wicked For The First Time
For someone trying Wicked for the first time, what would you want them to know?
I’d want them to know that a lot of thought goes into every formula we create. We don’t bring it to market if we think it’s anything less than the best. The goal is not to make products that simply look good on a shelf. We want products that solve problems, feel amazing to use, and help people feel more confident about their bodies and their relationships. Whether we’re developing an anal lubricant without dangerous numbing agents or creating products specifically for menopause, every decision starts with a question: How can we make someone’s experience better? There’s a reason we say, “We’ve got a lube for that.”
Couples And Lube Conversations
How can couples make conversations around lubricant and intimacy feel less awkward?
Treat lube like a fun addition instead of a solution to a problem. Instead of saying, “We need this,” try saying, “This could be fun to try together.” Curiosity is much more inviting than criticism. The best intimate conversations happen when both people remember they’re on the same team. It doesn’t have to be a serious conversation, it can be a little playful. The best sex happens when people feel at ease. It can be a nerve-wracking, vulnerable thing for people. When someone takes the initiative to offer something to enhance the experience and checks in with their partner(s), it can be really beautiful.
Trying New Intimate Products
What advice would you give to someone who feels nervous about exploring new intimate products?
Start simple, stay curious, and don’t take things too seriously. You don’t have to become an overnight expert. Pick a product that sounds interesting, learn how it works best with your body, communicate with your partner if you have one, and give yourself permission to laugh it off if things don’t go exactly as planned. Pleasure isn’t perfect.

About Jessica Drake
Jessica Drake is one of those names that carries real weight in the adult industry. She began her career in the late 1990s and went on to become closely connected with Wicked Pictures, signing an exclusive contract with the company in 2003. Over the years, she has built a career that goes well beyond performance, with work across sexual wellness education, advocacy, product development, and public conversations around pleasure and consent.
What I respect most about Jessica’s work is that she has not treated sexual wellness as an add-on or a marketing angle. Her answers in this Q&A show someone who genuinely understands how shame, lack of education, and awkward conversations can affect people’s intimate lives. That matters, especially in an industry where customers often need honest guidance just as much as they need a good product.
Jessica’s current work with Wicked Sensual Care reflects that same approach. Her involvement in product development, education, brand messaging, and comfort-focused products shows how Wicked is trying to do more than simply sell lubricant. The goal is to help people feel more comfortable, more confident, and better supported in their own bodies and relationships.
