A great thing about us at the Adultsmart Retail Store is that we are all hands on with our products and have extensive knowledge an resources at our disposal.  This is what we should be sharing with every customer that comes in through our doors.

  1. Top review. Bronson. Sharing an experience I had when working in a shop in town. I had a customer who came in the shop every week – sometimes twice a week. No matter what I tried I could not get him over the line for a sale – this went on for close to a year. By the end I was very cold and indifferent to him. His name was pk.

    Then one day – out of the blue he came in and started picking up products. He probably knew better where stock was positioned in the store than I and within 15 minutes had a treasure trove of product on my counter worth many thousands of dollars.

    He then explained to me that he was a married man and his wife was against all the ‘adult stuff’ but once a year she went to Malaysia and gave him permission to ‘play’ whilst she was away.

    He returned three more times over the next two weeks with similar sales.

    The moral is you never know what is going on in a persons life and often the unexpected happens. Give great customer service to those that purchase and even better to those that don’t and u will promote an environment where customers return shop and customer loyalty is the holy grail of any business.

    Hi everyone , I could not help myself wanting to write something regarding customer service and giving the customer more service and information and knowledge about whatever is so valuable and important to people whom r really wanting to be so certain of what there needs r and or trying to achieve sexually that they don’t purchase on some visits but what’s even more valuable is taking all the information in and sleeping in it and on so many accessions they do return to purchase and that is such a buzz for me and even more buzz for them because they r confident and excited to explore something that means so much to them and there sex lives. Last week I had a customer come in that once every 2 months will fly from perth to Sydney for business , he stays across the road from park street shop and absolutely let’s his hair down and really loved the fact that I am so relaxed and non judgmental he expands his experiences every time he comes in , now I have total respect also for thus married man he also has a 1 year old girl of which his wife does not have any idea of this side of him , he knows it’s better that way , thus guy is a big fan of prostrate toys something he just wants to keep to himself , the wonderful attractive thing about him is he dies not involve anyone to help him fulfill all of this which is such a true honest human being.     Customer service to me means a lot of things… I find I get a lot of regulars’come in on the shifts I am working. My favourite thing to do is remember one thing that’s going on in their life and ask them about it next time they’re in. Not too personal obviously – for example, “how’s your new car going?”, “how was your trip to Japan”, or even “How did you find the We Vibe? I love getting honest feedback on products…” etc. This extends the customer service beyond just the sale itself and again reinforces the fact that you aren’t just a sales robot… you can connect with the customer on a personal level, again making them feel more comfortable and at ease with you. Customers love feeling like you remember them and that they’re valued as a customer – which is essential to creating an environment where they feel comfortable returning.

I remember how I felt like when a customer treated me like a shit for the first time (yes, it happened a few times more later on) by saying that “give me some privacy please!” just after I reached him to ask whether he is interested in a special item or not. I was really upset at first sight but I smiled gently and backed off, not behind the counter of course, I just left enough space between him and I. Then, he came to the counter with a dozen of products. And also, I’ve seen another guy in our store for twice in the last two weeks with a tape measure in his hand wanting me to measure lengths and circumferences of some dildos by Doc Johnson although I showed him the back of packages written all dimensions on it. He was persistent so I did it twice. Hopefully, he’ll buy one of them if he comes in for the third time. So, a bit patience and understanding really help us in such cases.

    Anyway, all of us have heaps of stories, undoubtedly. In my opinion, we break taboos with every product we sell or with every person we see in our stores. It is not just about sales or it is not only a vibrator. I admit that we are not cracking an atom but “It is harder to crack prejudice than an atom.” Einstein says. I am not exaggerating, you felt the same things earlier and/or you will probably have different feelings in the future. That is our rapport with our customers: We all are humans with sexual desires. Therefore, I believe that putting this thought in the first place will raise our intimacy by making us relaxed. Try not to be focused on sales when you see a customer. I know that it is the most important thing as we live in a capitalist world but remember that they live in the same world as well. I heard the same thing many times which was “Are you trying to sell the expensive one?” when I showed them another product which was $ 5 more or less than the other one. They feel insecure in this new area and it is our duty to make them feel comfortable. So, as Bronson said, trust is the key point. Thanks mate!

  5. for me I just treat the customer how I would want to be treated. I respect their boundaries and try my best to follow their social cues.

    for customers who are a bit shy or uncomfortablethe aren’t being super forthcoming and just saying I need a butt plug I need a vibrator, I put myself in the spotlight and will point put a product I own or really enjoy and ask them if they like the shape, battery operated etc. I actually learnt that trick from buying makeup. I actually adopted a lot of my customer service skills from buying make up and picking up peoples vibes.

    employ active listening. I will short form repeat what they want back and ask did you have a budget or would you prefer battery operated or rechargeable. I’m clear about price and functions and although I’m laughing and making jokes I make sure the customer knows the warranties and the capapbilities of the toy.

    be compassionate. Especially when selling lingerie because I get body issues, and I also get how daunting shit is when you have to try it on and catering to that persons requests and giving genuine compliments and tactful tips.

    I try to know what I’m talking about and .f I don’t ill be honest about it, I’ll google it, read the box, ask someone else, take it out of the box turn it on and show you.

    Customer service to me is just giving the customer the respect and honesty you expect. listening and understanding and meeting the customers requirements. They just need to be statisfied when they hand you the money and take their products home because satisfaction is paramount to good customer service.
