A few of us have done reviews on excellent Butt Plugs on the market such as Nu Sensuelle or Fun Factory’s Boosty or LELO’s Hugo. What about those of us out there who are completely overwhelmed by the sheer size and power of some of these toys? Maybe you just don’t know where to start. Do you need help to choose a butt plug?
Finding the right butt plug for you can be a daunting task. Especially if you’re just starting out in anal play.
Important Things to Know Before You Start
No matter how big or small the Butt Plug is, they all tend to have a similar design. A tapered tip for easy insertion, a narrow neck for the body to grip around and a flared base to sit outside of the body to avoid any trips to the emergency room.
For prostate stimulation, the plug will be specially designed with a curve in it to target the prostate gland, otherwise known as the P Spot. So if the Butt Plugs you’re looking at have these four things – you’re off to a mighty start.
In this review, I aim to:
- Enlighten you to a few products/manufacturers that you may have not heard of before, or maybe don’t know too much about.
- Give you a tight arses guide to starting anal play.
- Give you those little tips that make the whole process much, much easier.
While I don’t want to say there is any right or wrong way to have sex, it is critically important that you follow a few basic rules for anal play. This is so that you’re shooting through the roof with pleasure and not pain.
Choose a Butt Plug: What material is best?
If you’re just starting out in anal play, we highly recommend that you use a silicone or jelly toy. As they weigh less, are flexible and are soft.
Another excellent plain and simple toy is BASIX Rubber works beginners butt plug by Pipedream which is still soft, but that little bit firmer, which makes for easier insertion.
Again, both of these noticeably boasting the important features of the flared base, tapered tip and a slightly skinnier neck. Both of these plugs are simple with no frills attached. They’re both small in size and make near perfect for your first butt plug.
How do you Use a Butt Plug?
First of all you’re going to want to get a good quality lubricant. We highly recommend Pjur’s range of anal relaxant lubricants – Analyse me and Back Door. These lubricants are much thicker than your “standard” silicone lubricant, and offer more comfort and longer lasting use.
You’re going to want to lubricate your new toy generously. With these kind of toys there is no need to go about it like a bull in a china shop. Take your time. Figure out whether you’re comfortable or not. Maybe sit there with the toy inserted for a few minutes before moving it at all. You’ll soon begin to discover what feels good, and what doesn’t. The best and only advice that I can give you at this point is to trust your body.
Don’t push yourself if you’re uncomfortable, and just relax and take your time to explore.
How do you choose your next butt plug?
So when/if you have decided that you liked engaging in anal play, you might want to take a step up in the size department. This is where a set like A- Zone Max Passion Silicone Ring Plugs come in handy! This is a set of three plugs which vary in size and width. Perfect for beginner to intermediate users as there are three different step ups in size which you could use to gradually increase in size.
They’re soft, but firm and are made with maximum comfort in mind. They’re made from 100% silicone and even have a ring on the end for easy removal.
Now that you’re 100% comfortable, your next step could be to move to glass or surgical steel butt plugs (which might I add are very pretttttty).
This step however, should not be taken until you’re completely comfortable with the sensation. As glass and steel plugs are typically much heavier and provide a completely different sensation again.
Main Things To Consider With a Butt Plug
- Start small. Think with your butt and not your eyes. Whilst those jeweled babies are extremely pretty, your body probably wont thank you for it if you jump straight in for the kill.
- Start with materials such as TPR Jelly or silicone, as its much softer and lighter.
- USE A GOOD QUALITY LUBRICANT. The anus can not produce natural lubricant like the vagina can so it is of utter importance that you use lubricant to save yourself from possible damage or being extremely uncomfortable.
- Only jump to bigger sized toys when you’re 100% comfortable and ready too.
Final Safety Tip
Another important tip is to check all anal toys (especially glass and steel) for any ridges, seems or uneven surfaces. This could cause extreme and permanent damage to one of the most sensitive parts of your body. So it’s definitely worth that quick 5 second check when you first get the toy out of its packaging.
Butt Plugs For Beginners!
My boyfriend has always been really experimental when it comes to being intimate. Recently he threw out the idea of trying something very different for me. I was unsure about where he was going with the whole conversation because last time I ended up covered in sundae toppings.
This time he asked if I would ever be willing to allow anal play. I was always taught that was a no-go type of zone. Yet, many of my friends have stated just how great it was and that the orgasms are much stronger and tend to last a lot longer.
He brought up the fact that I had never done anal that I could possibly try starting out with a butt plug that is made for beginners. To help me to get accustomed to what it would feel like to actually have him in there.
I Did my Research on Butt Plugs!!
I did a lot of research on the types of butt plugs and what is best for a beginner. How to get prepared for one, and so much more. I had researched so much that I was actually starting to get scared about what I had been reading.
The first thing that I did after that point was go into my local adult toy store and ask questions. A sales person was really thorough with all the answers to my questions.
I was led back into a room that contained so many adult sex toys, it could have almost been a warehouse of dildos. Going to the section that contained butt plugs and the first thing I noticed is that they ranged in sizes.
From Tiny To HUUGGEEE
From tiny no more than 1 inch around to huge more than 5 inches around. They had beginner packages that contained a numbing agent, lubricant and the butt plug, and there were even some that just came by itself.
There were oddities when it came to butt plugs such as some that had tails or spikes, some that vibrated. Some that were waterproof and made of glass.
Finally, I took a chance and found a small, jelly type of butt plug that I would be able to practice with. It was small and blue. No more than 2 inches around. I also purchased a water-based lubricant and I purchased a numbing lube as well called AnalEase.
I was SO nervous
Not going to lie, I was overly nervous about anything going in that area. As there have been stories about things that happen that are not the most hygienic.
So according to the websites that I read, it is best to use the bathroom and then shower before using a butt plugs. I decided to follow the protocol and I made sure that I was looking the best that I could for this experience.
My boyfriend, being the great guy that he is made sure that I stayed calm for the whole experience.
First Things First
The first thing was to apply the AnalEase which is a lubricant that is used to numb the nerves for use of anal toys. It has to be inserted with a finger which was quite awkward. Numbs you just enough to where it will not hurt, but not enough that you cannot feel the sensations from the nerves.
The feelings of his fingers in my rear was an odd experience to start with. It took a few minutes but I had really begun to relax and allow the sensations to take over. He then removed his fingers and applied my water-based lubricant to the toy and a little to my butt.
I then felt him press the butt plug against my rectum. There was a lot of pressure at first. But he went slowly enough to allow me to adjust to the sensations that I was experiencing.
Eventually the butt plug had been inserted. I stayed still for a moment to allow my body to be completely adjusted before any other types of pleasure could happen.
That’s Some Intense Pleasure!!
Eventually, the sensations of the butt plug moving with other movements allowed for some intense pleasure during intercourse and even foreplay. Just bumping the butt plug allowed for there to be increased sensations from the nerve endings in my rectum.
It was if my whole body was on fire from the orgasms that I was having.
When we had finished with our session, the removal of the butt plug was also very easy.
I was overly sensitive when it was removed.
The pressure of having it in me for an extended amount of time did cause a bit of soreness afterwards. That is one thing that they do not prepare anyone who uses a butt plug for. There will be soreness after it is used. Especially if it is your first time ever having anything in that area.
Clean Your Butt Plug Thoroughly
You will want to be sure that after you are done playing with the butt plug that you clean it thoroughly. Otherwise you could end up with an infection.
You will want to use warm water and a toy cleaner, which is best. But if not be sure to use a soft soap that will not destroy the plastic or jelly material of the butt plug.
You also want to let it air dry because using a towel can leave lint and fuzz on the toy. Once you have cleaned and dried it, be sure to store it in a place or package that will keep it clean. I have a small plastic container that I put mine in.
My Butt Plug is Now a Favourite
After using a butt plug for the first time, it has become a favorite sex toy for me and my boyfriend. Especially when we have enough time to really enjoy the experience. I have moved up in size now and eventually I hope to keep moving up in size.
It is a unique experience that everyone should try at least once.
